Could someone give some insite abt COM, DCOM technology, on what it is and how I can go about learning it? I have a general idea, but dont really know how the development work is dont using these technologies.

I just got a job offer with a company that uses it and I have no clue abt it! I have two weeks to prepare myself for the new job and would appreciate any advice ! ! !

i no how u feel............

Well its not a brief subject to explain. i suggest u get on the microsoft site theres plenty of info their.....or get a couple of books on the subject (micorsoft press an't bad). This information is widly avaible, and if you can develope in vb/vc++/java you should pick it up in no time (2 weeks is more then enough).......

hope this gives u some direction...

Thanks, I did find a book online (Building N-Tier Applications with COM and Visual Basic 6.0 by Ash Rofail ; Tony Martin) on the website www.itknowledge.com, that seems like a good intro book.

Some very good ones on Business Objects Data Objects and UI Objects (COM DCOM )
etc.

Another good book you can find in the market is 'Developing Activex Components' by Dan Appleman. It has got all the things that you need to learn COM.
