FTP/Client-Server

I have to make an application that can act as server and client for the ftp.It basically should be able to take the ip adress of the machine to connect to(preferably through a pop window) when acting as client and then send file or automatically take the ip address of the machine its started on when running as server,It should be able to give notification that it has finished sending file or has recieved the file and in an ideal world maybe some stuff about the file like some error checking on it.
