Admin Notice: New Discussion Board Software Coming

In an effort to provide you with more functionality and features, we are changing discussion board software. This change will occur around the 14th and 15th (next Tuesday and Wednesday). I'll post more information closer to the time of conversion.

Even though we are changing software, you will be able to keep your current ID. We will have to reset your password, however, you'll be able to update the password on your own.

The new software will add numerous new features and abilities to what you'll be able to do in these discussion forums. The software will also have a number of settings that you can configure to your own likes.

We are still targeting the conversion process for late tomorrow (Tuesday) with the conversion being completed on Wednesday. I'll post more specific times later today. We've been running through the conversion process several times to make sure we provide the smallest amount of interruption possible.

There are over half a million messages on the CodeGuru.com boards and we have been spending lots of time making sure we can convert all of them over smoothly. Our test have all executed great. In the past few weeks we have added a number of additional people pound on the new boards to make sure we didn't overlook anything. The feedback has been extremely positive. These testers included a number of the top posters to CodeGuru.

You've been asking for additional features and a smoother operating board. This change will bring both. This includes features such as:

- the ability to filter down to the newest messages
- the ability to subscribe to forums
- the ability to create buddy lists
- the ability to earn a better title status based on your usage of the boards
- the ability to rate threads
- the ability to create a custom Avatar that is included with your postings
- a more robust message editor which includes emoticons and more
- and lots more.
