Maggie Maggie May Keep on Shinin Xeon August 8th, 2001, 05:13 AM Hi there...we met again! :-D Anyway, I would like to ask if u know how to create "skins" for SDI-based programs? If u do, please reply and if u wish, we can discuss the costs. :-) [b]............[b] maggiemay August 8th, 2001, 05:42 PM Hi You bet I wrote a skin system last fall but never go any takers. It is really easy to do, and I would like to talk about it. The skin system I wrote supports jpg, bmp,or gif's, and is smart enought to know what kind of dib it has loaded. It also has four states for each button, a progress bar, and 2 sliders and a radio control. Best Wishes and thank for thinging of me. Maggie May http://www.lucyscreek.com Xeon August 8th, 2001, 09:09 PM Hi there! So, u mean u can create skins for even SDI programs? My! :-D Do reply! :-) And by the way, u must have inherited all ye' dad's genes and one and every bit of his coding skills into your brain, or else u couldn't have been so shockingly amazing at coding. :-) [b]............[b] maggiemay August 9th, 2001, 09:21 AM Hi, You bet you can make an sdi app into a skin project, remember we must create the ui the old way like Paul Yao did in PW95, and we can add any window attrib we want to the prj. As far as being MFC compilant yes you could reduce it to that level, but I believe once you see it you may not wish to. Also Mr. Naughter is going to look over the code for mistakes soon and tweak it abit, there of course will be no charge for the code as we are all here to help each other. Here is my email address for your use. maggiemay@lucyscreek.com Mr. Naughter's address is pjna@naughter.com He is pretty busy so he might take a few days to get to us. I find that he usually requires about 4 days turn around. Thank you for you kind words, I think you are a very special person to offer to help a kid just starting out. I think I am a few years away from charging for my code but one thing I am certain of is I love to work in logic and math. I wish the very best for you and yours, Maggie May http://www.lucyscreek.com maggiemay August 9th, 2001, 09:59 AM Hi, Sorry to bother you again but one more thing to think about. Remember the trick to an sdi skin app is not to take away things you don't need like menu's and status bars, rather never create them in the first place.8^} Your Buddy, Maggie May http://www.lucyscreek.com Xeon August 10th, 2001, 01:43 AM Hi there, Maggie pal! Well, I'll try to figure the project out myself. :-D And the thing is that maybe u can consider of becoming a teacher who teaches programming. :-D Cos' u know, the words written by ye' seems to have a very touching effect that softens my heart! But u know, I'm gonna feel terribly inferior next to you, cos' I'm 17 years old and u're only 10, and yet u know so much more than me! How shameful! :-D And u say in your post that I'm trying to help a kid starting out!!!!! Honestly, I THINK IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY ROUND!!!!!! (:-D It should be : Maggie the Coder helping Xeon the Kid who's starting out! I shouldn't be at all suprise to know that u're smarter than Bill Gates when he's your age. :-D Dat's the thing! Anyway, who says u're still years from charging for your code? :-D After all, there's no law saying that 10 year old gurls who program like internationally famous programmers can't charge for their code! 10 year old boys? Well, I've to go now. Tis' such an eye-widening experience for me that I'll never forget it. :-D Maybe if I'm gonna write a book one day, I shall talk about the child prodigy Maggie May. :-D Good luck for you, pal! And don't fall to the temptation of sex, drugs and gangs when u become a teen!(13 years old)........or else u'll destroy ye'self!!! :-D Good day! Xeon. [b]............[b] NoUse October 7th, 2001, 11:20 PM Hi, Let me introduce myself. I'm Richard(sorry for my poor english speaking, I use to talk french...). I've been looking for 3 weeks on a method to change the skins of SDI program using MFC. I'm doing a final work for my C++ course At Céjep-De-Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Can you help please? You 2 seems to be the last hope of my partner and me. In exchange, Icould offer my services for 1 of your project(if I can really help skilled programmers like you seems to be). Silence is made with sounds Xeon October 8th, 2001, 05:10 AM Hi pal! Too bad! I can't figured out a way to create skins in SDI programs, and have switched to dialogs instead. U might try Maggie, after all, she's a child prodigy, and I doubt she'll fail ye'. :-) ^_^ I only know how to use skins on dialogs. Also, u can always use dirty tricks to make dialogs with skins look like SDI programs with skins, provided u do it well, which is pretty easy. The teacher will never know just by looking unless he/she investigates further using Spy++ or further probing. :-) My last advice : Try Miss May.(Maggie) [b]............[b] NoUse October 10th, 2001, 09:22 PM hehehe thank you anyway....I found how to use skins in SDI/MDI, but this is not really programming....I'm just using an ActiveX from www.softshape.com Maybe you know it. I t is called ActiveSkin 4.0 beta. This is very cool for making winamp like application, from dialog based, SDI or MDI applications. They are sample how to use this activeX. But this don't really explain how does skins work. So if you have any technical(for begginers/intermediates) information about what is really a skin and how does it really work fundamentaly", I would be glad to learn any useful information. I think it's the word in englis ;)". Thank'S to you! Silence is made with sounds (No Use For A Name) Xeon October 11th, 2001, 04:52 AM Hi there, Mr. Have_Use! I think the name NoUse sucks! Now, please don't call ye'self NoUse! :-) Yes, yes. I've seen this ActiveX control called ActiveSkin by SoftShape, the creator of the powerful Chameleon Clock. :-) But since the thing is US$99, I don't wanna buy it now. It's day-light robbery, pal. :-) But anyway, good luck for ye' and ye' pal's project! ^_^ ! [b]............[b] jovan111 January 14th, 2005, 02:47 PM I will take on a C++ project via the net.
