I would like to add this new thread to know about the current MARKET CONDITION throughout the world.

If any country is having good Market I will try to jump there ;)

The US market stinks right now. It's not what it use to be. We have fewer jobs, and more developers out looking for work.

Just noticed that Narayana Murty is in Mass. Guess they know about the US market then ;)

Actually, some sectors in the economy is slumpy in Canada, but amazingly, as a whole, it's not bad, compared to the USA, and quite amazing because usually, when the USA's economy is slowing, Canada's one is too. Not this time.

I mean the job market is not like it was 2 years ago, but it's still ok.

Let's just say 2 years ago, I could change jobs with a snap of the fingers... now you have to be sure when you decide to change.

I would say the best market is in the US. Although the economy is probably slowing, there's a large user base over there; the largest in the world.(if you're talking about software and hardware markets)

I'd guess India has an allright market, but I wouldn't know. There seems to be a lot of programmers from there on this forum atleast.

I know Sweden is a good market if you actually know what you're doing, and can back it up with references, and be a bit more than just a hobbycoder, or "I learned myself!". Education most often leads to jobs. :D

In Ireland the base market is steady but the e-commerce/web/java side has crashed.

Lots of talented and really skillful programmers hail from India, but the user base there is really not as good as in the US.(by the way, I'm not an American or anything)
The Chinese market is probably getting larger and larger too, but even then, at it's current growth rate, it's not a match for the US. The most popular web sites, web hosts, hardware and software are all in the US. The big boys too. The thing is : just how much technology, both old and new, hail from the US?
Programming languages, office productivity suites, printers, processors, OSes........the truth is : the computer industry has it's roots firmly planted onto US soil than any other country in the world.
In other words, go where the market is : The USA.:cool:

Firmly rooted. Not creating new shoots. I'd say the market is so damned stable that there is no growth, really, even if there's no recession. Which, I guess, is allright.

The market isn't in any particular country. You can find a job in most countries these days, within the IT industry. It just depends on what kind of job, and what kind of merits you have. :D

Well, for jobs, I agree. The market isn't anywhere. But if you're talking about selling software or hardware, then the market really is in the US.

Try selling software to potential customers in the US and try the same thing in Brazil. Any differences? :):D

There thousands of people in this site. Only few people are respoonding.

Also even in the same country, there could be different cities and different places, so software market is different in each place.

We should educate about this also, so that we can have better idea of what is going on......

Hey Xeon, you could capture a bigger market by moving from VC++ to Marketing and Advertising ....

After all, if you're a member of the Marketing Department in a software company, u'll be the one who decides the outcome on the programs, and u control how and what the program looks like.

Plus, it's easier to bed the gurls too with your personal marketing skills. :D

But still, I prefer programming. :D;)

If your in marketing, you could constantly change the requirements (after it's been coded) and piss the developers off at whim ;)

And you could even threaten those cute female programmers and tell them that if they don't play with you and make you "really happy", u're gonna give 'em a real hard time by changing the software development decisions at the last minute till they break down and cry. That's it.

I'd say the same about Ireland. It's not the best moment to move here. There'a lot of american companies, so with the slow down, there's a lot of programmers looking for a job. I'm sure it's possible to find some, but you need to be very competitive.

It's not that good in France as long as I know as a few people I know are waiting in their offices until their companies can find them a work to do...

Well then what the HE double toothpicks is going on !
Companies run around looking for software
There are no software packages to suit the companies
There are many software development companies looking for developers
There are many developers who are unemployed
Companies do not employ them because they are not experienced
Developers do not get experience because they can not be employed
Companies cry to colleges to churn out more developers
The inexperienced developer ends up lecturing in some college
Colleges churn out more developers
Companies cry the developers are all academics and still runs around looking for software packages :(
