Did I say something about sound effects? For other readers : this time I have deleted or edited nothing. Xeon : I tell you : do not listen to the voices inside your head. A cute French **** named Jeanne d'Arc did this once and ended up being barbecued by a bunch of English guys.

What has this barbeque thing gotta do with me? U mean, I gotta create a time-machine and go back in time to save this cute and pretty mistress in distress? I will, definetly. Just gimme some armour, a forceful lance and a very very gigantic shield 3/4 of my height and a red cape. I'll rode on my horse, Rhindon, and charge forth to fight the good fight. Thank you.:cool::cool::cool::cool:

That was just an illustration not to listen to the voices inside your head, telling you things that aren't there. I used the Joan of Arc illustration as you started (http://www.codeguru.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=617063&highlight=Joan#post617063) making a rather nasty remark about her. Do not underestimate my memory.

U're being a root, Simon! U're still living in the past???!!! We're already on airplanes and concordes and you're still using hand-made stone-wheelcarts???!!

That post has been dead for darn long, and u're still reading it?

Besides, you really should try to break the Guiness Book of World Records if your memory is that good. The current record is remembering and reciting different 50 objects at 1 shot without pausing.

Now that your back, I need to point you to something you don't seem to have made a point about yet, but Xeon has a new avatar. It looks like a bearded terrorist, but is apparently Abraham Lincoln. Could you inform me of something solar? Why is that guy so popular nowadays? I thought he was not that popular at his time (the Civil War), even rather unpopular, the fact that he got shot is some support for this.

[clears throat] As you know, history has a way of crediting the wrong people all the time. This is one of those incidents. Lincoln is known as the man who ended the civil war and abolished slavery, etc. This is not true. First of all, when the civil war ended, Abe was long dead. It was Johnson in office who abolished slavery, not Abe. Abe actually encouraged slavery because in doing so he supported peace - he wanted to end the war more than he wanted to get rid of slavery. A stupid southerner actually assassinated him. It was a dumb idea because Abe was going to go easy on the Southern states after the war, but his successor (Johnson) was pretty rough and got rid of slavery once and for all. Abe is popular today because people seem to remember him as the great hero of the American civil war. He isn't, but then again, kids learn about Columbus and not the Vikings, etc. It all has to do with history remembering itself incorrectly.

But it's rubbish! When the Civil War ended, Lincoln made the Gettysburg Address, which means he ain't dead at that time!
Arrggh you!
I bet Johnson was voted outta office the 2nd time : in other words, he was only able to run for President 1 time.

Besides, historians know so much more than us! If they wanna credit Lincoln, of course they do extensive research, pal. :p
From what I know, there's suppose to be at least 3 great US presidents, : George Peace Washington, Franklin Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. No mention of Johnson! :p:p:D

Actually, everything I said above is entirely true. Really.

Lincoln was actually dead when he gave the Gettysburg Address. Nearly ninety-nine percent of the audience didn't realize it at the time, and so he is credited with having lived an additional two years. His closest advisors, among the few who knew the truth, sat his corpse right up in that oval office and signed stuff for him. Of course, a country without a real president is a country at war, and the civil war lasted until Johnson assassinated the zombie of Lincoln and ate the Gettysburg Adress. Then George Washington's great-great-grandson declared the war over, and that the confederacy had won, and that pretty much brings us up to modern day.

Maybe my English is too poor or what! A few years ago, I read the first book of 'Lord of the Ring' halfway and I lost track of the story.:p The book is very boring compared to its prequel 'The Hobbit'.I did not go to watch the movie

I heard that this trilogy was written in 1973. Heck these novels are even older than me!

Ahh this reminds me of the first Science Fiction (series of 4) novels I read, 'Rings of the Master' by Jack L. Chalker. Hmm, I was 13 years old then. I hadn't got my first PC until I was 17 years old. This novels sparked my interest in computers. Master in 'Rings of the Master' is referring to a SuperComputer called Master-System.

This is a short narration of how the story plot (roughly) goes (for those are interested),

In the future, a few scientists had invented Master-System, and there were 5 rings(with embedded micro circuitry) to control Master-System. Master-System killed its inventors. But its inventors had programmed Master System in such a way that the 5 rings were not to be destroyed and must be in the hands of humans at all the time. And Master-System had to obey whoever had the 5 rings.

Master-System destroyed everything which was technological and Mankind went back to live their lifestyle as it was before the Age of Enlightenment. After a few centuries, most of the people forgot and didn't know their lives were actually ruled by a Computer.

'Rings of the Master' is about a small group of people who stumbled about this Truth and their search to find the five Rings to set Mankind free.

His other books, Jack wrote, are not that captivating. His 'Moreau Factor' is so boring and its ending is so abrupt and anti-climaxed.

Heard that Asimov is good but I only read 2 books which he co-authored with Robert Silverberg, 1 being 'NightFall' and another is 'The Ugly Little Boy'
