Hi,
I'm rookie so I'd like to ask you all for advice. I need to convince some guy, that he needs my database.
The system consists of two modules:
- application for employees, for data inserting
- central application for data gathering, processing and exporting

Modules communicate off-line. I don't need it to be very fast. Database can be quite big after one or two years of using (mainly text fields). The problem is that they say, they can make the system in Microsoft Access (TM :-) but they would like to know, what I think about that.

I would like to write all this in Borland Builder. What database I should use? What advantages of my solution can I point out? Is it better to use Access or write separate application?

Thanks for help,
Matthev

depends on the existing user base
access is becoming a very popular database, nearly a standard (loose sense of the word). I would go with access just because should you need to exchange data with people who don't have your database, then that would be quick and painless. also, should you leave the company...who's going to update the database if it has bugs...? sorry to kill your joy, but you really should go with access
