BarCode Reading

Hello freinds,
I want to crreate an application in VB which will
read barcode.I want to know how to go about it.
Apart from BarCode reader we also need some reading software.Is any free barcode reading software available in the market???
How to program this type of thing???

It should be included in optical reader. It will work as an input device like your keyboard.

Go to Http://www.Planet-Source-Code.com/vb and search on "CUECAT" (Without the quotes of course) and you will get two hits. CUECAT is a barcode reader recently distributed free by Forbes magazine and Radio Shack as a Advertising gimmic. The PSC.com site has two examples that can read and interpret its output. It may or may not suit your requirements, but the code is real simple and can be analyzed in a matter of minutes as to suitability.
