transport protocol and sockets

Hi, a clarification on windows sockets service providers doubts...

1) Reffering some documents in microsoft website made me assume that base service providers are not transport protocols. Is it so?

2) Whether one base provider represent one address family?

3) Does windows 2000 allow installing two transport protocols,
both belonging to the same address family?
