As I start my computer, I got a message says that "at least one service can not starting, check Event viewer." somethig like that. Then I went to event viewer and found it says:

The 3Com 3C90x Adapter Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Any one can tell me how to check this device or how to fix it.

Another thing is I got this error message when I installed some software: Incompatiable version of the RPC stub

How can I check the version of RPC stub?

Thank you very much..

the 3c90x is a NIC and it seems its not working

right click my computer - goto properties and then to hardware, then to device manager.

should see a red X or yellow ! telling you the device has failed - you would need to reinstall the latest drivers or replace the NIC

2nd.

Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub.
Cause:This error is caused by a incompatible .dll

This error is caused by a DLL that was installed on the system, such as Oleaut32.dll, Olepro32.dll, Asycfilt.dll, Stdole2.tib, or others that are not compatible with that system. For example, version 3.50 of Oleaut32.dll is installed and used only by Windows XP and so causes this error if it is installed on a machine running any other operating system.

Resolution:Download and run the executable that is provided by MICROSOFT at this URL: http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE
This is for Win98 - couldn't find the win2k or xp info

Hope this helps
