programming language question

I know that c# is probably not a language that u can use to make games for consoles, so I want to know, what the best language would be for that, or if I wanted to write my own OS. Please let me know, also any other resources on the subject would be great

VS++ using DirectX would be great.
C# + DirectX is also fine but performance won't be good as C++

directx will work on game consoles?? like playstation or dreamcast or nintendo gamecube???

I haven't used that. so you need to check on internet and Microsoft's DirectX site.
