pics and ascii

ages ago i've seen an application which could take a black and white picture and create quite accurate representation of it using ascii codes.

does anyone know how to do it? or where to get it?

I found something on the net that can do just the thing you ask for.
It's not VB.NET code, but maybe you find it of some use.

You can serialize picture to the XML file - which is pretty much ASCII
