determine drag and drop source document location

in a drag and drop situation, is it possible to determine the location of the source document? e.g. when dragging from a microsoft word document, can i tell the physical file path of the document being edited? another e.g., when dragging from internet explorer, is it possible to tell the URL of the current webpage being dragged?
