generating email without using mapi?

Hi,
in an app. that I built there is the necessity of sending an email from a system with Win NT + Outlook 97, without the mapi profile, as the user is connected with a modem via a Citrix Server that blocks the mail.
As I do not have any idea how to do that, I would really appreciate ideas and - even more - some code.
