forms read only after convert Access 2000 to 97

After converting an Access 2000 DB to Access 97 we only have read access on the forms that were developed. Looking at the forms property settings the AllowEdits, AllowAdditions, etc. are all set to yes. The forms were working fine before converting and still work in the unconverted 2000 DB. How can this be fixed?

Did you possibly lose your keys when you converted? In access 2000, I found that you can not edit tables if the table does not have a key.
