detect cd tray

I know how to open and close a cd tray through code. What I don't know how to do is detect whether or not the cd tray is open or closed. My code for opening and closing the cd tray is tied to a command button on my form. How do I tell what the status of the cd tray is if the user uses the button on the CPU to open the tray?
