ADO vs. DAO vs. ODBC

Could someone explain what the advantages of using each type of data control? I need to do some database connectivity yet don't know the best method.

ODBC is the oldest of the access methods listed and the most difficult to grasp, for the uninitiated. Microsoft introduced DAO in an effort to minimize the difficulty encountered in using ODBC. It was supposed to, with RDO, replace ODBC. It did not. ADO is supposed to replace DAO and ODBC. It may.

The only real reason to learn/use ODBC, right now is to support legacy systems. If you have VB6 or beyond, ADO is what you should use.
