Who is programming (serious, competitive) videogames in Java?

If no one is, why not? Java seems ideal for simulations and RPGs.

I intend to make my first game in Java, and want to know what other

people are doing in this language. Is Sun working to support game

developers working on Java titles? Most urgently, am I insane for

attempting to make a commercial title in Java? (My design calls for

some intense realtime graphics, but these won't absolutely need to

be interactive when they're animating at full speed.)

Can you recommend Web sites or even recent books dealing with Java,

in its latest and forthcoming versions, as relates to games?

Is anyone out there also doing a Java game for commercial release?

I would like to recommend "JavaPRO - Java for game developers" at the following address: http://start.at/javapro.

This site are dedicated to game programming and features topics like AI, 3d, 2d, DirectXj.... There are also a popular Obfuscated Java Contest!
