Uninstalling DirectX

HI there..

How can we uninstall DirectX and how can we restore the previous version of installed DirectX? For example, I have installed DirectX 9c on machine running Windows XP.Now I want to install DirectX 8.1 or some other previous versions of DirectX...whats the way to do it.

Clean install is the only real way to make sure you've done it correctly. Failing that, just install over your current version and then run dxdiag from the command line and check the versions of the dlls. If this is a recent mistake, and you're running XP I would suggest the "system restore" feature. Good luck, it is very difficult to uninstall directx.
