classDefNotFound in RMI

I am trying to test the feasibility of using Java's RMI in our product's
situation. I have been able to use the remote Hello World applet code
example at JavaSoft on our IBM AIX server with Win clients.

However, I am hoping that someone could point me to a working example of
a distributed application using RMI (not just an applet). Whenever, I
try to run the client application, it throws a classDefNotFound error
when looking for the stub.
