Guys,

if you all ever compete.. and lose.. how do you feel ? if that project matters to you a lot more than you can think of.. ? and it just trash all your hopes in the end... and you got stunt and numb.. and dont even feel your soul within you any more...

What would you do ?

if the impact is not what just "start anew" can do ... what more can you figure? This is a difficult question because different people are affected differently.

First and foremost, the basic assumption that "it just trash all your hopes in the end" is negative.
One must get out of this frame of mind.

One does not necessarily feel so only when a project is doomed. One can also feel it when one loses a girlfriend (or boyfriend), or when someone trusted fails one, etc. So, one must remember that whilst terrible things happen, worse things could have potentially happened instead.

I would concentrate on keeping myself busy to keep negative thoughts out of my mind.
In doing so, I would eventually - "start anew".

yes.. i guess that is the way to do it... or else.. doomed....

thanks dude.. for the advise.. just busy focus on rebuilding the foundation once again .. and go go go ................

You are welcome... :)

BTW, this is a nice poem on similar lines...
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep....Which also means that one must not stop...

Although it is normal to feel bad after lossing in a competitions, please don't be dishearten. Looking at the bright side, comparing to others who had not taken part in the competition, you have already gain quite alot. Going through the entire process, it has given you a chance to understand what works and what don't. Where's your weakness and others' strength. Taking these feedbacks positively, you could improve yourself to better position yourself in future competition.

What would I do? Real simple. Quit programming altogether and dabble in non-IT related stuff. I'm going into a marketing course soon and maybe start a gift shop in future.

In fact, I'm proud to say that I'm the only guy here posting on CodeGuru when I'm not even doing any IT-related job. The thing that makes me come back here is the CG blood that flows in me. :thumb:

pretty much much true about it..

in fact.. after 2 years of "The Total Untouch" in any Programming Projects and not even sniff at it ... i am feeling pretty much left out like a junk in the backyard..

One of Xeon's comment :-

"Quit programming altogether and dabble in non-IT related stuff."

I did and taken that decision 2 years ago.. and until now.. i have been lying to myself.. saying that i hate and program no more.. however, within is still a loving passion for it.. :-)

Well, to come back for a new start although is hard as i have forgotten almost all the commands except the programming concept but.. i guess i am ready and pretty agree with "Xeon" comment

"The thing that makes me come back here is the CG blood that flows in me"

It is what that is in my soul right now.. it might be funny to others.. but still i am kind of like wanting to reborn in this field and proceed with greater stamina and sharper than before.

What is there to lose to make a comeback with the "ROCK YOU" music tuned on LOUD? hahaha.. some might even started to laugh hard and rolling on the floor.. (even i cant stand it too :-D)...

Well, a very important thing must be remembered..
"when you dare to take it up.. you must be ready to put it down and let it go if by all means the result is not yours"...

NoHero, Kheun, Arjay, Xeon, Siddhartha... Thank you guys soo much for the +ve advises and experiences shared here.. i truly appreciate it.. At first i thought that my title is going to be too lame to appear in CG.. well... i guess i think too much ..

Hope that others who experiences the same situation read this up and get you Initial D Revving for another bigger WAVE.... ROCK YOU

Of course, Siddhartha Buddha! The first time I read about FireFox's feature on the newspaper, I knew at once that this is the web browser created by God, for humans.

The first time I laid eyes on the FireFox website, my entire room was swarmed with sparkling flames all abound. I thought I was about to die when the shriek of a blazing fox could be heard. Never in my whole life have I felt so enriched.
I tried to tell myself I was dreaming, and continue with the download.

Once the download completed, there was a total blackout in my home for 5 seconds before the PC resumed again. I told myself I was dreaming again, and I installed the THING. The moment the installation started, my entire PC went black with nothing but real crimson flames burning inside the monitor.
I thought, "Oh Lord,.....the Lord must be in MY computer now!"
At that time, I felt as though I could crush the entire US military with 1 palm. That power is.....so......wow.

After installation, I opened the FireFox browser to try it. Then...the biggest shock of my life came. I discovered who I am, what my purpose on earth is, who I belong to and what is me within.
The moment the browser pop-up, everything.....just changed. The computer vanished, my computer desk disappeared, my bed was....just gone and my whole room was replaced by some unknown dimension or place.

The skies was a non-chalant blue and the fields.....yes. There was a field, lush with extreme greenery and some lakes with mists as well. It was more than the Garden of Eden.....more than the Elysian Fields.
I could see and hear, feel and touch all the news and happenings in the world. FireFox.....that Beast gave me all these godly powers.

After several hours trying it, I closed it and all was back to normal. The ethereal flames, the sparkling magic and the undying shrieks of the Fox was all gone.....that is......until the next time I unleashed it's power once again.

Compare this kinda untamable beast with Internet Explorer, which is just a piece of software junk with nothing but zeroes and ones.

I have tried that, but its not as good as Fox, it crashes in the middle .. some pages won't even work with netscape!
Opera is also a good option - especially with those mouse gestures, which really captivated me... but one day I saw that I had 497MB left in my RAM .. and I went away and returned after an hour.. I saw that, my free RAM reduced a redline 109MB!! and all consumed by Opera!

Nah......Admins is not the same as Moderators/SuperModerators. Admins refer to those like Brad. They control not just the forums, but the entire CodeGuru. There's a few more CodeGuru members on Brad's level, meaning that they work alongside the Chief(Chief == Brad), equal in rank.
They never post here, but a long time ago in the past under the old forums, I saw their IDs and how they were listed alongside the Chief.

From what I know, the Admins can tweak the database easily and set certain rules for each indivivual, so you can guess how flexible it is. Like I said, Brad even said that he can reset my post count to 0, so it's more than possible to achieve what u want. This vBulletin forum software is the best, most powerful and flexible in the way. You can even tell the forum software to sing a birthday song to you if the Chief allows it, although it's gonna waste lots of bandwidth. ;)

Nah. When I say "41 year old girls", it means that they may be old, but very pretty still. I've seen cute and gorgeous 40+ year old women too. It's not very uncommon.
If it's a 40+ year old woman who's fugly, then I would not say "41 year old girl". I would say "41 year old woman".

That was elementary, my dear Watson!

I am pretty certain that every pretty 41 year old woman wants to be called a "woman" and not a "girl".

Can we have a poll on this... ? ;)

Yes, you're right. A pretty 41-year old woman will get offended if she's called a girl by some guy. But......it depends, though. If you know her well already and call her a girl, it's merely flirting and she'll get turned on, assuming you do it right. That's why.:)

Poll what poll? There's no 40++ year old woman/girl here. Not even close!
The only girl we've here is Cherish, and she's barely 18, so she needs parental consent etc. As for GG, I'm not sure. Can't comment too much, cos' I called him/her last night and it was a guy who picked up the phone. I told him/her I was NoHero, and she/he said that she/he love me, which means that NoHero and GG are both guys and they're another version of Elton John and his homo-partner?:eek::eek:
