About 6 months ago, the old PC was dropped and we had to get it repaired. Ever since then, whenever the button is switched on to turn the PC on, the CD-Rom drive opens. Anyone have any idea why it does this?

Andy Tacker July 28th, 2005, 04:17 AM it's like "Feed me" :) may be it's looking for a bootable disk in CD Rom... please check your BIOS for BOOT option, set it to your HDD... PeejAvery July 30th, 2005, 06:57 PM Unplug the whole computer. Pop out the BIOS battery then the RAM. After that, disconnect all cables to the CD-ROM. Wait 10 seconds and then put the battery back in and then the RAM then the CD-ROM cables. Plug it all back in and then tell me what happens. Melian August 12th, 2005, 04:26 AM Thanks, but I didn't want to know how to stop it - I wanted to know why it happens... PeejAvery August 12th, 2005, 02:51 PM Glitch with the ROM. I can't fully explain it but it can easily be reset. Did you stop it? Melian August 14th, 2005, 04:05 PM Glitch with the ROM. I can't fully explain it but it can easily be reset. Did you stop it? No I didn't bother trying to sort it out. Does make a difference from the drive efusing to open. PeejAvery August 15th, 2005, 01:00 AM Unplug the whole computer.
