Its good that you didn't cutoff your pic. It does give an idea how may I look like after 20 years (if survived). You know, there is a general concept here (in Pakistan), that there is a certain age, after which you can't do programming specially in C++, because you can't make a balance in life, alot of different technologies coming in, and bla bla bla. Prior to that, I've to prove it hard ways that you can, but now I simply refer them to CG photo Album thread ;) and win the argument :cool:

And perhaps you'll share some of the things discussed there with us. :rolleyes:Well... actually, that's precisely the reason why we are here. ;) I'd love to post a more detailed report right now, but we have a tight schedule. It is currently 5:45 am local time, I just got up and I'm having my first coffee, taking a shower and shaving while writing these lines... John and Brad are staying at hotels in Bellevue (which is more close to the Microsoft campus in Redmond) while I'm at the Westin in downtown Seattle (at the 38th floor BTW with a fantastic view of Seattle and Elliott Bay). Shuttle buses will start running at 6:30, breakfast begins at 7:00 at the Microsoft Conference Center, and the first sessions with the guys like Herb Sutter, Don Box, Anders Hejlsberg and the other folks who architected Visual Studio, the C++ compiler, C# and so on will start at 8:30. Yesterday, we listened to keynotes by Steve Ballmer and Jim Allchin, had sessions with S. Somasegar and Don Box, and had the opportunity to meet the teams that are doing Avalon, Indigo, the CLR, the Visual Studio IDE, the C++ compiler etc. at dinner... Great experience! (BTW, they all wanted to know why you're still using VC++ 6.0! ;))

We'll post more detailed reports and pictures when we have more time. See you soon! :wave:

The guys who architectured the .NET platform and VS.NET want to know why are we still using the 6.0 version? What about the guys who architectured the 6.0 version, don't they reply, "why not, after all it's a great product"? :D

Well, besides not getting MVP award, Bill G. was kidnapped by Napoleon Dynamite. All was shown in a short movie clip. Also he participated in Share our pain new MS program that uses different gadgets to physically punish MS staff for introducing too many bugs; also shown in a short movie clip.
I am sure that we will not be able to get those movies but we well give it a try.

Well, if you take what Ejaz said literally, then 28 (his age) + 20 = 48. So, after Ejaz, your age should be about 48, not 52 ;)

I didn't know that John is 52 :eek: and still a tiger :cool: You know, it gives me alot more confidence to know that I'm part of the best of the breed and those who says you can't hold on to programming after 30-35 are ignorant. Keep it up John, keep it up :thumb:

By the way Guido, can you take few more snaps about your trip (not only in the summit but outside as well) and post them in this thread? Well, this way we all will be able to visit with you guys, virtually though :cool: :thumb:

With no specific DNA (mutant) segment, no one can be a programmer. ;)

Being the oldest in the company, my managers should be happier if I involve myself less in the programming process and pay a little bit more attention for the rest of project's tasks (documents, meetings, audits, etc).
Unfortunately no way, that's it! I am a mutant. :D :D ;)

Nice informative thread. :thumb: Include more snaps..I will as soon as I get my internet connection running again - I just came back home after a 16 hour trip and found that my connection and email account broke for some reason (I'm currently using a GPRS dial-up connection with my cell phone, which is both slow and costly).

As for the travel, MVPs from outside the US could also apply for getting part of the flight costs (about 330$ in my case) refunded - that was 60% of the price of my flight from Germany... :)

Yep. It has been a part of the beta for well over a year now. It is also a part of www.Codezone.com's search and may (<cough>will</cough>) be available in some other highly visible search areas as well. If you have a copy of VS 2005 (even the Express), you'll find that you can search for CodeGuru articles. When this happens, I'll post a note in Feedback so people know.

((There was an issue last week where our articles weren't found, but that should be fixed now based on my conversations with them last week. They shifted something that caused problems))
