Dear Com/Dcom experts;
I desperately need your help and suggestions on com/Dcom configuration. Any related information is highly appreciated.
My project has two part, client and server. Both are written in VB. The client
has some forms and controls and so on. The server has several classes and
functions. Both Client and Server application are *.exe files. The server will
be referenced by the Client before I use Application Setup Wizard to make a
distributed application.
Now, I install server and client on the same computer. The server part shows up ok in Dcom configure window. However the client to server interface are not stable. Sometimes, they show up as GUID in Dcomcnfg.exe; sometimes, they show up by its user-friendly name. How can we control them?
In addition, when I try to configure the interface, "Run on this computer" always disabled, which is the option that I should pick up since I installed the server and client on the same machine. How can I enable this option?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely
Rae
