VB Access to Lotus Notes email

I have a project which requires simple send and receive type access to our Lotus Notes email system. From what I have seen so far, it appears that our current version of Notes (4.6) does not support MAPI. I have looked around quite a bit and I have not found a method to access Notes email from VB. I found Lotus' VIM library, but it appears to only be a 16 bit solution. Could somebody please point me to a reliable way to access Lotus Notes email using 32 bit VB?
