Grrrr! Ever since I upgraded to Win 98 I can't get a **** thing to work properly!
The latest problem occurs when I try to install MS Visual Studio 6.0.
I get to the point in the installation which says "OK, now I'm going to upgrade your
Internet Explorer to cope with JAVA" (or something similar). When you agree to this
(and you have no choice but to agree or it quits the installation) it doesn't appear
to copy any files and then it prompts you to restart your computer to effect the changes
(again, you have no choice). This all occurs according to the notes in the installation guide,
so that's fine. However, when the computer has restarted it is supposed to start copying
files from the CD and proceeding with the installation - but it doesn't. Instead it
returns to the "OK, now I'm going to upgrade Internet Explorer to cope with JAVA" again,
and the process starts all over.
It appeas then that the setup.ini isn't being followed properly, but I haven't a clue what to do
about it.
Can anyone help???
Oh, and before you ask, I have already got Internet Explorer 4.0 installed.
Cheers!
Carlos.
