Hello!

I don't know if this is the right section to post,
if not please move it to the appropriate section of the forum.

I'm getting to a point where I personally think I need more books,

My goal is to work for a company whose heart of business soley lies in creating online games, next bread and butter comes off-line and console games. And I need advice on how and what to prepare should the opportunity knocks on my door.

I'm thinking I should learn database for MMO.
windows programming for console/pc games.

so I'd like to know which one of the two should be learned first.
I am open to all criticism and sarcasm as far as this matter is concerned.
but please keep in mind that at lease add an answer to the question.

Thanks alot.

I'm not a games programmer so I can't give you any specific advice in that direction but as a general pointer, I find that books are a good starting point, but you don't really start learning until you are coding. So my advice to you is to write as much code as possible and to read other peoples code. Sites like TopCoder provide loads of competitions etc. to make learning/imporving algorithm skills etc. more fun.
