C++ Certification

Geeks, need your valuable suggestion regarding C++ certification. After Working in this field for last 4 years, I am thinking of getting a C++ certification. Is BrainBench is well recognized everywhere or is there any other thing available for only C++ certification.

I work for a small company. To us a certification doesn't mean much at all. I probably wouldn't hold it against you, but it wouldn't gain you anything either. Real experience comes first, followed by a 4 year degree. It may mean something to bigger companies, but I kind of doubt it.

I agree. Experience and a 4 year degree are the most helpful. In my job hunting I have yet to see any job that requires or even mentions any type of C++ certification.

However, I have come across several companies that will not even consider you if you don't, at minimum, have a 4 year degree (which I do not have).

Some recruitment companies insist on having some certification, but that always has to be recent. Brainbench is one of the tests that is semi-standard for pure C++. It doesn't actually hold that much value just by itself, but still, it tests quite well your general top-off-the-head knowledge of the field.
So if you're thinking of doing it just to have something, don't do it, it's not worth it.
If you are trying to find a job right now and are considering applying through headhunters/agencies, then yes, take it.
