Drawing Program

New to Visual C++ and don't understand how to get color chosen by radio button in a dialog box into the drawing program the teacher has asked us to create. Can get dialog box to display from menu or toolbar, have appropriate color's radio button checked but this doen't change drawing color.

Any help greatly appreciated (sample line of code please) !!!
