I have been developing an ASP.NET (using VS 2008) application on my personal computer and I use typed datasets for all data access. Well, when I published the application to my godaddy server, and I get the SQLException as follows:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
However, when I use the exact same connection string from the web.config file directly in an SQLConnection object and Open() it, it works just fine.
Looking at the stack trace, it seems like SQLConnection in the dataset opens fine, but when it gets to the TdsParser (?) it then fails:
