IsMouseButtonDown??

I need to know if the left mouse button is down in another window of an App that I didn't write but for which I am writing a DLL which that App loads.

I have an HWND of the App's other window... without capturing the mouse... is there any way to test if the mouse buttons are pressed?

Am I missing an API function, or isn't there one?
