Windows 2000 is Win NT with all facilities of 98 (like disk defragment, plug and play etc.) and a lot of beautiful graphics. So, I can say that it is stable enough (I use it as Release Candidate 2 since 1 month now) but it is slow enough. Your choice is yours!

I have 3 computers at home - 2 of them are HPs and 3rd one is Sony. I tried to use Win 2000 on all of them. I cannot say that it's slowing down the computers. I had problems with drivers for all 3 modems, all 3 soundcards, 1 DVD drive, 2 videocards. I don't remember exactly what hardware I'm using. But all this devices are working fine with NT 4. I've been looking for drivers on WinFiles site and Manufacturers sites. Nothing.

I'm using Win2K for some three months, RC1 recognized ALL of my hardware except Adaptec SCSI card without any additional drivers. It works fast enough on my K6-2 with 128Mb RAM. Moreover it's as stable as I could expect form a mutdie.
