UNICODE MBCS WCS

Hi,

Can anybody explain me what is the difference between, UNICODE, MBCS and WCS.
and what are the different cases they are used for.

What I know about all three are, they are used to provide multi Language support, basically Kanji
But how they are different from each other I don't know.
