multi-language resources

i am creating a application that i would like to
be able to use different languages.
i have put all my string resources, including
menu strings, into a string table. i want to
set up a popup dialog to choose the desired
language and load it. my question is do i hardcode
additional strings for the different languages
or is there a way that the operating system can
translate the strings for me. i am willing to put
in the extra work needed it is just that i am not fluent
in other languages to adapt the strings. any information
on how i sould go about this would be helpful.
