Docking the entire app

I know that MFC provides for a Docking toolbar, and a Rebar that "kinda" docks, and a control bar that docks, but can you dock the entire app like an appbar in Win32, or the Office toolbar or the taskbar. I want to create an app that can dock to any side of the desktop (or maybe to the IE toolbar). I have seen the AppBar example on MSDN and while it provides a lot of the functionality, I can't use ActiveX controls in Win32 (easily) and I am more familiar with MFC....any help is appreciated.
