I never dealt with richedit (so feel free to ignore this comment :)), but as for me, it's very, very unlikely that MS have missed something in Common Controls' Unicode support. And I believe, there must be something to do with mixing LTR and RTL text fragments in the same text box. Try to experiment with other RTL languages and see whether the effect appears. And do not forget about documentation. It's very often that the answer is always nearer than it seemed.
