VB6 DataEnvironment - datacombo and text box

Hello! I'm working on a project to maintain employee information (i.e. address, city, state, etc.). When the program is opened, a form displays an employee with all pertinent information in text boxes. If the employee information needs to be updated, the person is brought to another form. At this point, the city and state are no longer text boxes but are datacombos to ensure consistency of data and are populated via a stored procedure. How do I link the text box and the datacombo so that when the employee information is going to be updated, the datacombo displays the information that was in the text box? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
