Tiff to PDF !!!!!!!

My requirement is converting Tiff image data in to the PDF File Format. If I have to convert say an RGB image to PDF.
What R the colormap requirements that I have to handle in PDF and how!!!!!!!!

all that i know is that the graphics in a pdf-file will be saved with gif-compression. But how you can convert this, i don't kno. I use the Adobe PDF-Writer. Its an printerdriver where you can create pdf-files. Its not free but it works well.
