How to erase background while drawing text

hi,
I m working on application which requires automatic scrolling text in a cycle.I m using doc/view for this.I am using WM_TIMER message n drawing the text..but while drawing text on WM_TIMER message its not erasing the previous drawn text..

I assume you are talking about a marquee-like object, scrolling text from left to right. Suppose you are drwing text in black, on a white background.
When the timer ticks, first choose a white pen and draw the same text at the same location. This erases the previous text. Then choose a black pen and draw the new text at the new location.
