Where can I find a free SQL server?

I got VC++6 Enterprise Edition with SQL server 6.5. I want to write a small application to access SQL databases just for practice purpose. However my OS is Windows 95 and the document says to use the SQL server, I must work on Windows NT. Here is my question:
Is there any one know how to deal with this situation? Do I need a SQL server to connect with?
Is there any free SQL database provider?

Hi.

You need Window NT Server.

I installed SQL Server 6.5 at Window NT Server in my home machine.
I test SQL Server locally.

If you get a job at Software company, you will install Window NT Server in order to make a test.
