Domain Validation with CSocket

I am using the CSocket function "gethostbyname" to validate domain names I receive in an application. This works just great under most circumstances, however, it does not appear to work with aliases. For example, when trying to validate "real.com", the program fails, however, validating "prognet.com", works just fine. Via OzNic program I can see that their Domain Servers are "prognet.com". I am guessing that "real.com" is an alias used for email and web. Are there any other functions available that can get at these alias domains (which are valid)?
