I heard that new century starts not this year but next....2001!!! I always thought new century starts from 2000 but I don't know...so I was just wondering. Happy New Year everyone...To tell the truth, I was hoping that power would go off in some major cities, but it didn't :(....

I'm all for agreeing with that too, but hey - it's like watching your car's milometer going from 99999 to 100000 (well, my car anyhow ;-)

It's all due to the first year of 'AD' starting at 1AD rather that 0AD - therefore, it's not strictly the 3rd millenium until 2001. Then again, the Christian belief states that it's 2000 years since Christs birth - which again was believed by most scholars to be around 4BC (due to that being the date recorded of Herods death) - that would have made the 3rd millenium start around 1996 !

Who cares anyway ? I (and I'm sure most other people) had a blast and probably won't see another party like it again (unless we all go to Cuba for their Y2K bash in december 2000)

Happy New Year to all
