Hello,
Is the following type of vegetable sold in your local supermarket too ?

I google and find it is called "ocimum basilicum" (I don't know how to pronounce it). Is "basil" alone its common name by the way ?

Thanks!

Hi,

Since you ask about pronounciation, in UK we pronounce it
"Bâsil" (i.e. with a flat 'a' as in battle, but I heard that in the US it is pronounced "Básil" (i.e. with the a as in hay

You can buy it dried or fresh in most UK supermarkets, and it goes very well with tomato.

Cheers,
Alan

Hi,
Today I come up with this fruit: Annona squamosa
Some people call it sugar apple, some call it custard apple, which one is more common in your area ?

Hey, I've never seen that kind of fruit before, it's definitely not widely available in the UK, so I don't think either name will be in common use here.

As I understand Wiktionary, sugar apple and custard apple are distinct fruits (and the one shown on your JPEG looks more like a sugar apple). At least the sugar apple does not have the scientific name annona squamosa, it's annona reticulata. (See http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/sugar_apple and http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/custard_apple.)

At any rate, I haven't ever seen either of them. They don't seem to be commonly available here in Germany too.

Okay, they are cousins living mostly in South East Asia and South America and are entered the US or Canada upon request.

Again, thanks a lot. :)

It's called custard apple in India.
This plant is widely available and often considered as weed

To me, chit chat is like chicks' chats, so feel free to be off-topical.
It's nice to know you can scan my body's temperature too. :D
