Can you give me an example of how you contributed to a software project you worked on outside of work/school?

Never had much luck with people who didn't work on projects outside of their work assignments.

Reminds me of my second to last programming job. Went to interview, the guy looks at my resume, and is like... Ok, so you can do this and this. Well, let's go ahead and set up your computer, you're starting today. I was like, whaaaaa? Last position, was equally baffling, sat down and they talked over the project requirements, asked if I could do them, and basically just started me that day. I'm almost forgetting what an interview is. ;D

To be honest, my favorite question during an interview was one of those logic questions. If you were on a bridge, had a flat tire, took your hubcap put lug nuts in it, and accidentally kicked the hubcap over the bridge (with the lugs), what would you do? I got it immediately.... anyone else know the answer without cheating? :D

I'd call a cab :). Or take one lug nut from each of the other wheels.
