How do I run a password protected database

I have an application in Vb using Access as the backend.
If I make my database password protected The application reports generated with crystal reports do not run at all.How do I solve this problem ?
Can anybody help .If any code can be provided by anyone out there I would be highly obliged.

May I ask you something?
Why do you have to make the database password protected? In order to make the users unavailable of heving enter on it? If so, why don't you produce replicas of database with Access? Just asking...
