I posted 2 times the same question this afternoon but nobody answer me!!!

Is that impossible to resolve my problem?

may be nobody understands your question.
That's at least true for me.
You said you want to get the value of an environment variable and you DO know the Environ function in VB.
Then, what's your problem?
Why do you refer to scanf in C?
What do you mean by "prompt"?

I don't have the answer to do what you want. People don't reply because they don't have the answer, so just be patient (as urgent as your project is, you'll have to wait). When you get an answer it will make up for delay.

Just a suggestion: there may be an API call you can use with the window's handle to get the reponse from the sytem. check out Dan Appleman's book "Visual Basic Programmer's Guide to the Win32 API". If there is way, i will almost guarantee that an API is involved. I don't have any other suggestions, sorry.
