Is it possible to develop an Optical Character Recognition app in VB. I once developed an interfacing application quite easily in VB so I think there must be some way around this too,
any help is welcome,
thankx in advance,

I would think that it is possible, but really I have no idea what OCR codeing is like. Have you ever done anything along the lines of an ocr program? If so, HOW???
I use ocr programs en-mass every day where I work. The quality is acceptable, but the interface and automation is lousy for just about every one of them (and I've tried ALL of them. Only Text Bridge is usable as far as it's automation, but it's also the slowest... Most of them crash the system when they try to load all the documents I need done.)
I've been wanting to develope my own OCR program for a while now, but havent' been able to find anything that would set me on the right path to ocr coding. I just can't imagine how it's done, so I need help. I don't want to use any of the ActiveX or DLL's out there because, as I mentioned earlier, most have a big problem just loading the massive documents I'm doing. (Basically I want complete control over how and what when I ocr:)
If you could point me in the direction of some sample code or tutorials or what not, i'ed appreciate it!
