how can I print a PRN file

When printing, I have the option to print to a file and this creates a filename.PRN file. How can I later view and then actually print this file? I tried viewing it in netscape or wordpad, but a ton of extra characters clutter the file.

Any response any one can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Well,,,, if ur printing it to a file called myprint.prn ,, this file contains printer escape sequence code(understood by printer only)

To print it to the printer on DOS prompt write

C:\> TYPE MYPRINT.PRN >> PRN

(or)

C:\>COPY MYPRINT.PRN PRN

Hi,

The other post correctly states that a *.PRN file has printer control codes as well as data in it.
The control codes depend on the printer driver you used in creating the file. One way you could get
around that is to select the 'Generic Only' printer driver that comes with Windows. That driver only
prints ASCII text, so you would be able to read it later in notepad or a text editor.
