CompactDatabase function is not updating the Database Version

I need to convert Access databases(.mdb) from 97 to 2000.
I am using CDaoWorkspace::CompactDatabase( lpszSrcName, lpszDestName, dbLangGeneral, dbVersion40 ) function to convert to Access 2000. This function compacts the database successfully but it is not converting the database to Access 2000.

Any help is appreciated.
