Aplication compatible with either MS Access ODBC 3.5 and MS Access ODBC 4.0 drivers using MS Access

Is it possible to have aplication compatible with either MS Access ODBC 3.5x and MS Access ODBC 4.0x drivers using MS Access 97 mdb file.

I have application written for accessing MS Access 97 *.mdb file via MS Access ODBC 3.5x driver, but when I tried to connect to the same mdb file via MS Access 4.0x driver I've obtained error message (incompatibile types).
